A Short Bio

Morgan Rauscher is an interactive and immersive media artist and educator specializing in creative electronic artwork.

Morgan Rauscher was captivated with all things electrical from a very early age. As a young boy he was fascinated with the idea that an invisible electrical force existed that could move motors and illuminate lights. He was frequently censured for taking apart every electronic toy he owned and by the age of twelve he was building his own boats and planes. Morgan’s creative inclinations pushed him towards the visual arts at school but he was always intrigued by the electronic world.
Morgan enrolled at McMaster University (2000) in a completely unique program combining the visual arts and computer media. Using electronics, Morgan built works of art at McMaster to study creative new media electronic displays and the fourth dimension. He graduated summa cum laude with a combined degree in multimedia and visual arts (4 years Honors BA) from McMaster in 2004.

Morgan Rauscher went on to open a consulting company in Toronto. During his years as the company lead multimedia architect, Morgan personally completed over 40 multimedia projects. He worked on software, websites, e-learning, international media relations consulting, mass digital communications, search engine optimization and graphics development. Morgan enjoyed working with M-Media but was always preoccupied with his extracurricular creative projects. His thirst for more knowledge and research oriented creative projects could not be quenched by his corporate endeavors and after years of a successful company Morgan made a much anticipated return to academics.

Morgan Rauscher was accepted into the Masters of Applied Arts program at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver (Canada). At ECU Morgan expanded his web of exploration to include biofeedback, cybernetics, and creative electronics microcontroller design. His Master's projects included Zeugen: a robotic (cybernetic) artwork controlling 32 motion-tracking human cast faces that have moving eyes for watching and tracking patrons' movements in the gallery space.

Since graduating from his masters at ECU, Morgan has continued in both the academic and business worlds merging all of his business and technology consulting into one corporation (Trigger Shark Ltd.) as well as beginning his PhD studies in a special individualized PhD program (Concordia University Hexagram Institute).

Quote:

"I began my undergraduate studies by first looking at how humans interface with anything. This involved learning about the physiological and cognitive apparatus as well as the physiological and tactile human experience. Due to the broad nature of my explorations and my already fertile artistic nature, I conducted these studies while I was a fine and media arts student at McMaster University. Over the years, I have had the privilege of learning many materials and fabrication processes as well as rapid prototyping and high technology environments." more...
